Photographer as Essayist

Photo Essay: A collection of pictures on a single theme, arranged to convey a mood, deliver information, tell a story, in a way that one picture alone cannot. Selection and arrangement are all-important. A successful photo essay is always greater than the sum of its parts. It has a life of its own. It says more, has a greater impact than any single picture in it.

Why isn't the future here now?

Consider This: March 17, 2000: Time Corp. announced today that Life magazine would cease monthly publication. It would still publish special issues. Life died because it no longer had a soul. It was strictly an cash cow and the cow no longer gives milk.

Have I gone digital (the camera) yet? Nope. Here's one photographer's reasons for not going digital.

Then again maybe you want to go digital. Here's one man's method.

The Bet: Jim Clark stated on CNNdotCom (first week of January 2000) that still photography film will all but disappear in 2 to 5 years. I would like to make a One Million dollar bet with Mr. Clark that he is wrong. I will go farther and bet that film will still be with us in 25 years.

If you understand that the below sites are strictly humor then by all means visit them. Otherwise you are probably just to dumb and should consider a casket.

Miscellaneous
Opera 3.5 www.opera.nta.noThis site is tested with the Opera Browser. If it don't work with Opera it's broken. Check it out.

Also, download and install Microsoft's free core fonts for the Web (Windows and Macintosh) Install these high quality TrueType fonts, and whenever you visit a Web site that specifies them, your browser will display type exactly as the site designer intended. I don't specify fonts but I do recommend that you use Verdana. Verdana is one of Microsoft's free core fonts.

In case you just have to see the cover again.
